Product Details: From feedback we have received, there can be a fault with Samsung LE40R73BD and Samsung LE40R74BD LCD TV's concerning the turning on of the TV.
This normally appears after approximately 22 months of use.
Symptoms: The LE40R73BD or LE40R74BD makes a clicking noise when power is connected. The standby light may flash while the TV clicks. No picture appears from 5 to 30 minutes.
At the outset this pattern may persist for a short period, with the TV eventually turning on. However, it is likely that eventually the TV will not turn on at all.
A brand new replacement Samsung PSU for the LE40R73BD or Samsung LE40R74BD models will cost in the region of £160. A TV repair shop may charge slightly less to mend the original board.
What we are offering is to install the repair kit (available as a separate item in our online shop). Price includes the kit and labour. Return postage from us is additional and selected in your shopping cart.
We only require the power supply circuit board to be sent to us (involving the removal of the screws on the rear of the TV, unplugging a few connectors and then just six screws to lift out the psu board). Full step-by-step colour instructions are emailed to you after successfull payment, together with the delivery address.
Mail the board to us (at your cost, preferably using secure insured mail such as Special Delivery or a courier), and upon receipt we will then replace the appropriate components. We first check the psu to ensure the clicking fault is present (note - if the specific fault described above is not present then we will not attempt a repair - a refund will be made, less the postage cost for return of the board and a £10 handling fee). We change the components, then check the board in our demo TV to ensure it powers up. The psu is then returned via an insured mail provider.
This option has been made available for those people who feel they may not be able to use a soldering iron.
Suitable for power supply board number BN44‐00134A
Safety: Always ensure the power cord is unplugged from a TV before starting any work, and do not reconnect until the TV case is fully screwed back together. If in doubt of your ability, obtain the assistance of a professional. Upon request we can send a copy of the instructions so you may see before payment, the dismantling process - which is very straight forward as long as you can use a screw driver.
*** PLEASE EMAIL US BEFORE PURCHASE TO OBTAIN DETAILS OF OUR AVAILABILITY FOR THIS REPAIR ***
UPDATE: Next repair window is now available. Boards must arrive specifically on 25th or 26th February 2010. We recommend using Special Delivery or a courier such as www.interparcel.com to meet these specific delivery dates.
Payment Warning. Please DO NOT use Paypal "eCheques" when using the Paypal system, as these can take 10 days to clear and this product is time critical.
Cleared payment must be received before we can accept repairs, else the board will remain with us until the next window which could be up to six weeks or longer.
When using Paypal at the checkout, you can either;
1. Use your credit card (if you do not have a Paypal account).
OR
2. Sign in to Paypal and use funds that are already present in your Paypal account. Quote from Paypal "eCheques are payments from buyers who have attached their bank details to their PayPal account, but do not have a valid backup funding source such as a credit or debit card. It may also be that their backup card has expired. So to ensure that a secure payment can still made, an eCheque is generated." Therefore if you do not have a backup payment method in addition to your bank account details, and there are insufficient covering funds in your Paypal account, Paypal will automatically issue an "eCheque" which will be of no use to us. If you do have a valid backup payment method registered with Paypal then you will have no issues.
